Connecting an HDMI-supported laptop to a non-HD, composite RCA cabled TV, How to?
Here's the picture. My TV is old-school buy my laptop is fairly new. My TV will not be replaced anytime soon, but I'd like to display my laptop screen onto it. Just need help, because I feel there are a lot of phony cables on eBay and Amazon

You could consider Composite or component because I would imagine your TV would have both. Composite would be a little easier and really just as good. both will cater for sound.
HDMI outputs both video and sound. Therefore, whether you want both coming out of your laptop and getting to you TV or not, you should consider that cable. Can choose whether you want the sound to get through or not.
