They said major cities would be underwater by 2020 years ago and this doesn't even look close to happening. Not that global warming isn't real it's just how much of a threat is it really? Now they call it climate change because honestly nobody in their right mind can deny that the climate changes right? Haha. Read Michael Chrichton "State of Fear."

Also to all you idiots saying who is they? I'm not wikipedia...I'm trying to get some discourse on the subject. Instead of saying who is they present some facts. This was said in 2003 not this year so stop saying 5 years! No not 5 years.

Quotes by H.L. Mencken, famous columnist: "The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed — and hence clamorous to be led to safety — by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." And, "The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false face for the urge to rule it."
Of course it is. It is an old old formula. Snake oil salesmen successfully used the tactic for years. The proponents even admit that is is a scam.
Quote by Ottmar Edenhoffer, high level UN-IPCC official: "We redistribute de facto the world's wealth by climate policy...Basically it's a big mistake to discuss climate policy separately from the major themes of globalization...One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with environmental policy anymore."
Quote by Club of Rome: "In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill....All these dangers are caused by human intervention....and thus the “real enemy, then, is humanity itself....believe humanity requires a common motivation, namely a common adversary in order to realize world government. It does not matter if this common enemy is “a real one or….one invented for the purpose."
It is a $1.5 trillion dollar a year scam, and they are not going to walk away from something like that. But every intelligent individual know that it is just fear mongering.
"Fear is the most debilitating of all human emotions. A fearful person will do anything, say anything, accept anything, reject anything, if it makes him feel more secure for his own, his family's or his country's security and safety, whether it actually accomplishes it or not...."
"It works like a charm. A fearful people are the easiest to govern. Their freedom and liberty can be taken away, and they can be convinced to believe that it was done for their own good - to give them security. They can be convinced to give up their liberty - voluntarily." —Gene E. Franchini, retired Chief Justice of the New Mexico Supreme Court
Definitely fear mongering, and by greedy power hungry people.
There has always been climate change, the ice age??? global freezing... did we survive that one? I guess so. No it's going the other way, which is has before. Just because humans are on the earth to witness one little segment of the back and forth sway of extreme temperature over the ages, and it happens to be a segment that is approaching the heat peak before swinging back over to the cold side, con artist political twits capitalize on this to scare folks into agreeing to pay more for heat and air conditioning, so the Gov. can pilf more money off of you. There is global warming, but it sure as hell has nothing to do with what we little peons are doing down here.
No; fear mongering relates to stirring fear for no real purpose. Well, a reality check is needed; global warming is very real and the only fear I have is that some people are too happy to ignore what is right in front of them. I have seen rainforest habitat loss, the decimation of beaches caused by rising sea levels and the removal of sand from rivers for construction. Also the bleaching (dying) of coral reefs, of which only a few degrees change in sea temperature can destroy. I have my own proof in my own personal photos taken over thirty years; I don't need any other proof.
Change is inevitable but global warming and habitat loss have never changed at such a fast rate in all of known geologic history. The only thing I fear is that we will end up leaving this planet in an unliveable mess for our children and children's children. I hope that future generations will forgive this generation's misdeeds and will be fortunate to be able to help our planet to restore and recover. There is always hope; I don't call this fear mongering. There are many concerned (not fearful) people that are trying to do their part (no matter how small) in their corner of the World for environmental causes. Refer to some of these below if you are interested.
Global warming doesn't exist? When the last time you see 100 plus degress across America? And in California it's 110 with 100 forest fires, which fire fighter from all 50 states and Puerto Rico had to be brought in to fight those fires. Raising sea level has already cause costal countries farmers living by the coast to change to crops that are more salt tolerant. Oil barons wants you to believe that there are no global warming, so you can foolishly use more oil and gas without pushing for alternative energy.
When I was in high school it was called slow warming of the planet. In the 1970 the ice on the saginaw bay would get 3ft thick. Recently your lucky if you can walk on it in the winter. The planet has warmed up. A long time ago antartic was in the tropics. The temperature is not constant. It is always changing. I believe if global warming is real it is because we have cut all the trees down. Trees store co2. I believe in solar panels because coal plants are polluting our water. I believe we should go along with global warming people because we can't afford to be wrong.
