Why do people look up to Guy Fawkes like he was some kind of hero? A Catholic who wanted to kill king James because he was Protestant?
He didn t sound like the most honorable person. He actually sounded like more of a terrorist than anything and then on top of that he was a traitor who turned all of the conspirators in so how much could he really believe in his cause. I know the imagery of Guy Fawkes is more representative of revolution etc. but why Guy Fawkes? There are many others out there who were for more revolutionary than him and not violent and religious. I think it s all because of the movie V for Vendetta.

He is not seen as a hero. Guy Fawkes day is held to commemorate the fact that he was caught. That is why an effigy of him is burnt on 5 November and has been for centuries. The whole country comes out to celebrate the fact that his plot did not succeed.
Fawkes was a mercenary who had served in the Spanish army.
He was brought in by the plotters as an explosives expert.
Bonfire Night is celebrated every year in Britain because the plot failed. Those who today see him as some kind of hero probably base this belief on the fact that Fawkes planned to blow up a large number of politicians - not the most popular group of people in the Western world today.
Or maybe he wanted to kill king james for the attempted genocide of Ireland, Argentina and many other country's. Spain and Ireland had the most predominant force of politically active people. Spain and Ireland were seriously oppressed. It had nothing to do with religion. Lots of the murders and people who suffered at the kings hands were only recorded in other nations legends.
Plus the English let Burgandy get slaughtered when England was being originally developed. England is the single most corrupt nation to ever be formed and calling their ruler a king is a joke. Regardless of the fact prodestantism was a plot to ruin orthodox religions. By bohemians.
The bottom line, you fk with the poor and some smart poor person will rise up and smite thee if you can't be more careful. He's exactly like Martin Luther King, Ghandi, The 5 Tigers in China, Sid Meiers is for the corrupt videogame industry or Torek Ben Ziad.
People who stood tall during hyper oppressive civil rights movements where the poor were being ignored.
I bet you didn't even know about the first attempted genocides from England.
So your telling me, people who cause genocides deserve to be treated like royalty?
He was a terrorist, but of course Catholics and Protestants had been killing each other in England for quite some time, depending on who was on the throne at the time. How many Protestants did "Bloody" Queen Mary kill?
Yeah, I've never figured out why the self-styled freedom fighters of Anonymous, etc., idolize a guy who wanted to establish a Roman Catholic theocracy.
Probably they just don't have a clue who he actually was.
