Can you give me your best evidence for God not existing?

There's a guy on here who claims that he has proven that God does not exist beyond the ability to refute.

I would like to see this proof.

I've given this answers to nearly the same question:

" It is wrong always, everywhere, and for anyone to believe anything upon insufficient evidence"
W. K. Clifford (1879)

For most of human history God was the best explanation for the existence and nature of the physical universe.
But during the last few centuries, scientists have developed solutions that are much more logical, more consistent, and better supported by evidence. The Old Testament portrays the world as something controlled by God.
Where we would see the weather as obeying meteorological principles, people in those days saw it as demonstrating God at work. And it was the same with all the other natural phenomena, they just showed God doing things.

"...There can be no way of proving that the existence of a god...is even probable.

For if the existence of such a god were probable, then the proposition that he existed would be an empirical hypothesis. And in that case it would be possible to deduce from it, and other empirical hypotheses, certain experiential propositions which were not deducible from those other hypotheses alone.

But in fact this is not possible...For to say that "God Exists" is to make a metaphysical utterance which cannot be either true or false."

A. J. Ayer

I'm an agnostic atheist but I like to come up with logical arguments that disprove gods just for fun. Here is my best effort:

Let us define God as the Greatest Entity. This Entity is capable of anything. It can manipulate quantities of energy and matter both vast and small.

The greatest achievement of this Entity was the creation of the universe, since it is literally the creation of everything.

The magnitude of an achievement is enhanced and increased by the handicap of the achiever. Scoring a perfect bullseye in archery, for example, is an even better achievement if the archer was blindfolded. The greater the handicap, the greater the achievement and the greater the achiever.

The creation of the universe, therefore, was the Greatest Achievement by the Greatest Entity, who overcame the Greatest Handicap.

And that greatest handicap is nonexistence. Any entity that could have created the universe while existing, is not as powerful as an entity that overcame nonexistence and achieved the same result.

Therefore, either God doesn't exist; or God is not the Greatest Entity.

Therefore God doesn't exist.

There are two studies that I commonly cite during discussions, they are listed below, but I have many more thought exercises that lead to logical evidence against god.

http://www.nbcnews.com/id/12082681/ns/health-heart_health/t/power-prayer-flunks-unusual-test/#.VdmfsvlVhBc

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16569567

The links are studies about prayer. I find this as repeatable, unbiased, independently verifiable evidence against god's existence.

There was also a study completed gathering statistics on wealth and happiness among different religions. It was postulated that the followers of a true religion would have a statistical advantage in social, physical, and mental well being. Several factors were looked at and it was found that there was no correlation to one's religion and one's happiness. I find this as testable, repeatable, independently verifiable evidence as well. I apologize I could not find the link to this study. I can't remember where I read it.

Can you give me YOUR best evidence that there are not, in fact, multiple gods?

You can't, can you?

That's because you can't prove a negative.

So stop denying that the burden of proof is on those who make the claim.

Atheists, at least agnostic atheists, do not MAKE the claim that there is no God. They DENY the claim that there is. If you want to prove them wrong, YOU have to come up with the evidence.

For me, it's the fact that close to NINE MILLION children die EVERY year before they reach the age of five. Then, of course, you have to consider would a omnipotent, omnipresent, omnibenevolent god watch children being molested, tortured, and/or murdered, and do nothing? No, I don't think so. If it is, then it's hardly worthy of being called a god.
