I found a mouse in my backyard. It s mostly sitting still, moves every so often. Should (can?) I do anything?

Tiny little fella. Noticed him sitting beside the door mat just outside the back door. I thought he was dead at first so I gave him a gentle poke and he moved.
Grabbed a cig in the yard and when I went back in he was gone. Couple hours later he was there again. Sitting still and every 5-10 minutes or so he moves a little.
Is it just sleeping or is it like trying to find a comfortable place to die?
I m reluctant to pick it up or do anything because A) it might bite me and if it has any disease it ll infect me B) if it is dying and I can t do anything, picking it up will most likely just needlessly terrify the little thing.
I put a piece of bread next to it, just to be sure. Is there anything else I should do? Water maybe?
Does anyone know if mice behave this way before they pass?

Did some searching and I found out it's probably best to just leave the mouse be. It's most likely sick or injured and it's either leave it be or kill it, like Star_of_Darkness said.
Don't think I can bring myself to kill the thing without knowing for sure if it's already doomed or not. So I'm just going to leave it alone.

Kill it or leave it

Wild mice are very, very nastey. They spread life threatening disease and parasites and do millions in damages to homes

You start feeding them and you will have a lot more.
