Why is Ben Carson now against deporting illegal immigrants?
When starting campaign Carson said "illegals do the work Americans won't do". Two weeks later (after being corrected) he said that we must follow rule of law and deport illegals. Now, he states that you can't round up millions of illegals and send them home. He is very nice, but think could be swayed by special interests and doesn't have the knowledge of all that's going on with our corrupt government.

In 2nd debate, Carson clarified that illegals should be in agriculture as guest workers but others should be deported.

Texas Two Step, No, illegals cost way more than they contribute and taxpayers pay hundreds of Billions per year. Illegals undercut both our wages and this causes loss of our jobs, illegals have caused a huge rise in cost of living in the last 33 years, they have caused loss of health care, destruction of families via drug cartels, 2/3 of L.A.'s mail jail are illegals said Sheriff Lee Baca.

Dr. Ben Carson is brilliant. I have a lot of respect for him. I don't agree with everyhting he says. Like: I don't agree with his immigration proposals. I don't want to GIVE immoral illegal aliens anything. They don't deserve it. They're destroying OUR country especially our tax-paying middle-class AND our poor are really suffering.

Carson thinks like a surgeon, surgeons are not overly humanitarian nor are they organizational. Carson was/is a medical specialist and should be respected for that but a leader in public discourse is different. He made a similar comment about veterans and the VA before really understanding the issue.
Maybe it's because many illegal immigrants are working people who make a contribution, despite their immigration status. It makes more sense to legalize productive people than to round them up and deport them because you don't like the brown skin or Spanish surnames.
Politics, pandering, saying whatever works per the polls. A quickly changing position means either the person does not really understand the issue, or they are being influenced by feedback/handlers. Changing one's mind is not a bad thing, it all depends on the motivation for the change. And if it is politics, then it likely is not a good thing anyway.
