The question is: a clock is set correctly at 1:00 PM. If it loses 3 minutes every hour, what will the clock show when the correct time is 10 AM the next day? I got 9:57 but it doesn't seem right. Please help!

How many hours between 1 in the afternoon and 10 in the morning. Multiply the number of hours by three and that is how many minutes the clock will loose from being the correct time.
1 PM to 12 PM is 11 hours. 12 to 10 is 10 hours for a total of 21 hours. or 63 minutes or 1 hour and 3 minutes late. 8:57 (AM) showing on the clock at 10 AM.
