Is it Istanbul or Constantinople?

Istanbul was once constantinople. Even old New York was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it I can't say. People just liked it better that way. Istanbul was Constantinople. Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople. Been a long time gone, Constantinople. Why did Constantinople get the works? That's nobody's business but the Turks!

It is Istanbul, the name was Constantinople during th Ottoman Empire, but when that fell in 1923, the new republic of Turkey was formed and the city's name was changed to Istanbul.

My grand father told me once, That Istanbul is a city in Turkey and on previous time it called like, Constantinople then it become changed in the form of Turkey.

It is İstanbul.

İstanbul was one of the names of the city . It simply means "the city." It comes from Greek.
Constantinople meant City of Constanstin.It was first attested in official use under Emperor Theodosius II (408–450)
