Is it Istanbul or Constantinople?

    Istanbul was once constantinople. Even old New York was once New Amsterdam

    Why they changed it I can't say. People just liked it better that way. Istanbul was Constantinople. Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople. Been a long time gone, Constantinople. Why did Constantinople get the works? That's nobody's business but the Turks!

    It is Istanbul, the name was Constantinople during th Ottoman Empire, but when that fell in 1923, the new republic of Turkey was formed and the city's name was changed to Istanbul.

    My grand father told me once, That Istanbul is a city in Turkey and on previous time it called like, Constantinople then it become changed in the form of Turkey.

    It is İstanbul.

    İstanbul was one of the names of the city . It simply means "the city." It comes from Greek.

    Constantinople meant City of Constanstin.It was first attested in official use under Emperor Theodosius II (408–450)

    It's Istanbul now, but it used to be Constantinople, and before that, Byzantium.

    It has been ISTANBUL for a very, very long time. The name Constantinople was used during the Ottoman Empire reign.

    In the past, the city of Istanbul was known by many different names.

    after the conquest of Istanbul by the Ottoman Empire 1453 , the city was known

    as constantine and Istanbul. for centuries these were the names used by the Ottoman Empire

    After the newly formed Republic of Turkey in 1923 the city was officially named Istanbul.

    Istanbul. The name was changed in 1923 with the creation of the Republic of Turkey. Istanbul is the name many Turks had used for the city for centuries.
