how is trees for lumber beneficial to an environment?

Just about the same way that any tree would be beneficial.
1. Excess CO2 is used and translated to O2 by the tree.
2. Otherwise raw land is made productive again by putting trees where there was nothing
3. The trees will grow fast.

The disadvantage is the good practices of crop rotation are not done.
