FYI. on cat food surprise to me?

I have been feeding my cats Friskies indoor hard food.. the day before Yesterday I switched to Purina One hard food.. I can't believe the difference in my cats. Especially my overweight one, Hes used to be grumpy, sore muscles and very tight/bloated when you touch him.. In less than 24 hrs. he was way less grumpy and does NOT feel as hard as a rock or bloated and seams to sleep better less uncomfortable and does not seam to be sore as before.

Neither one is very good food. Cats can't digest corn, check your ingredient label, it's got corn in it. All the grocery store cat foods are the lower end of the spectrum with nutrition. A pet supplies store carries better dry food, at pretty much the same $ cost.

Also, both those foods contain by-products which are inferior protein sources. You want something that says 'chicken' not chicken by-products. The muscle meat is what works with cats better.

Wow. Thanks for sharing info. Most supermarket pet food is like junk food but this is an amazing illustration.

I feed the feralish kitty who adopted me Taste of the Wild, a grain free food. If you wanted to see if grain free makes a difference TOTW is less expensive than some of the other grain free foods.

You may also find that with the better quality foods the cats eat less because the nutrition is so much better. I'm glad you found something to make your kitties more comfortable!

That's not a surprise - Friskies is really 'crap in a bag'. It's all corn and by-products. Corn is NOT digested well by cats and leads to may of the things you mention, the bloat especially. Purina One is not the best food in the world by it is significantly better than the Friskies. Read about the proper feeding of your little carnivore here - it was written by a vet who has actually researched feline nutrition. http://www.catinfo.org/. Consider adding canned to their diet, and you will see even more changes for the good!

Good for you and your fur-babies. They will eat less and in the long run, cost you less. And they usually poop less, too.
