It seems as if some of these people are not willing to wait to see if the qualify for a SD or ESD, and are going for fake or false trainers and other outlets.
I waited almost 2 years for my SD and paid over $50,000.00 for him.
He can go any where.

Because they think it's beyond comprehension to leave their pet at home when they run to the grocery store and kenneling them would traumatize them (the dogs) too much when they go on vacation, or they are too cheap to pay for boarding them at the vet's.

A lot of what I see is a person unwilling to actually do things to help make their anxiety or depression or whatever better with say medication or therapy. They want a crutch in the form of a dog so they don't have to confront and deal with their problems. And before anyone bites my head off I'm not saying EVERYONE does this just too many to take any of these, "I want to know how I can get a ESA, therapy etc.. dog" questions seriously.

Service dogs have finally been clarified to apply to more than "blind people" (hurray!) so there are more of them, more visible, and with less obvious disabilities. All of a sudden when you think "why can't I take my dog [place]" you have an available example of a person that looked fine to you who had a dog in [place]. Since you can't easily see how that person would [fail to] function without the dog - you didn't watch them have a seizure or go into diabetic shock, for example, you decide that it's not "fair" that your dog can't also come along. After that, you are just making stuff up to justify your decision.

I think it's because they think they will be able to get away with taking their dog into places in which most dogs aren't allowed, such as taking it into a grocery store, drug store, sporting good store or just about anywhere. I also think they want to treat the dog as a young child, meaning it has to be connected to their hip which in turn will make it a very spoiled dog. Of course, this is just my opinion and this probably doesn't include everyone who posts questions about getting a dog as such. I never like to lump everyone in the same basket.

I never heard of no emotional dog but I know someone who got a dog because she was lonely and she needed a friend. Maybe she got the dog from the dog pound, I don't know. She needed a friend.
