Your credit score isn't the only thing that determines your credit limit. When you apply for a card, you disclose your income and job history (these are not part of the scoring system). But the card issuer uses that info along with your credit score and history to determine the risk they are willing to take by issuing you a card. Without knowing your credit profile or those of your friends, I can't offer any other reason.

Your Debt to Income can play into that decision, as well as your depth of credit history, and outstanding balances on current revolving credits.

it depends on the number of your other cards as well as the institution he went through, Are those real FICO scores or the make believe Credit karma scores ? it will make a difference

First, there is nothing wrong with a $2,000 limit. Second, you do not know exactly what they looked at.

If you want a higher limit then ask.
