Can a Chinese Algae-eater live in an outdoor pond.?

I am a GA resident and I got a golden CAE only for it's beauty, not algae eating. Can it live an outdoor pond in southern GA? Should it be wintered indoors?

It can't live outside in the winter as it is a tropical fish, but I wouldn't recommend the CAE anyway, because it has a tendency to suck the slime coat of larger fish. Sorry for the late reply.
