Are Best Answers from months or years ago still counted as part of your average when they are finally announced ?

I occasionally get notices that an old answer has been upvoted (sometimes from 2 years back). When I check it is a "Best Answer". Why do I just get the upvote notice but not Best Answer; and does the best answer count towards my average percentage of right answers ? For one thing, I get no email congratulating me for a good job.

Best answers are a percentage, not an average. Yes they are have been recalculated when you are notified. All the upvotes do is add one point to the 10 points IF and when your answer is CHOSEN as best answer by the person who asked the question. ONLY 50 thumbs up will add points to the 10 points for the best answer, but that is NOT included in calculating the percentage of best answers out of all your answers. The 2 points you got for answering the question was added to your point total when you answered the question. Yahoo does not judge whether an answer is right or wrong. Yahoo is not wasting band width , power, or memory space calculating right answer percentages.

Best answer is a percentage, NOT a mathematical average.
The formula is

#. of best answers/ total # of answers ( right or wrong) x 100.00

Yahoo rounds up or down for digits after the decimal point. No, i am not going to go into how numbers are rounded up or down, that would be off topic.

This third or 4th grade arithmetic that you learned when you did fractions. i didn't understand percentages until the 7th grade. I learned arithmetic the old fashioned way, WITHOUT calculators.

Oops! I've gone into lecture mode, again! Lol!!!!!

No one has been getting best answer emails for a week or more. Another "eternal" glitch.
