Finland plans on creating a universal income system for all of its citizens. What do you make of this?

Do you think this is a great idea to adopt global wide? Basically, everyone get free money for simply existing and they have the freedom to choose to work or not for additional money on top of their pre-existing allowance.

It is fine for them. They are a small country with a high trust society. The only way it will work is if they continue to kick out their refugees and maintain their homogeneity and culture. In a situation of increased automation and decreasing birthrates, and you already have a wealthy and educated populace, this could be a sensible policy. This policy would be a disaster if it were to be adopted worldwide however.

A link to the specifics would be nice. My questions would be how this is funded. Is it funded by the revenues gained from production on public land, like Alaska's permanent dividend, or is this just a matter of robbing the more successful citizens in order to pay ne'er-do-wells?

Yeah, that's great. Finland's population is 5.43 million. Would love to know how exactly they are going to pay for these stipends as nothing is ever truly "free".

That "pre-existing allowance" comes from taxes. It ain't free. If more and more people decide that they're cool with the allowance, that will reduce the tax base, ultimately reducing the per-capita allowance.
