Do you think it’s strange for me; a woman in her forties; to go to the movies by herself?

For some reason in today's society, yes. Seriously though, who care about what society thinks? If you want to go see a movie by yourself than have a blast. Don't let what others might think of you stop you.

No, I do not think that it is strange for a woman in her forties or for any woman to go to the moves by herself. If I want to see a movie and my husband does not want to see it then I go by myself. You either have to go by yourself or miss out on a good movie at the cinema. I am also assuming that friends do not want to go to the cinema as well so as I said you have to go by yourself.

Never. So what if you're forthy plus and want to watch a movie alone? No one can judge you, if there is, why do they care much? A grandma I knew, since she became a widow, line up for movies alone whenever she wants to in discount days. She watched cheesy teen flick movies alone and don't give a darn care what other's think. Our modern times, encourage us to find our own entertainment and those people who judge us by it just don't know how to find fun in their lives, so please go on, watch a movie alone cuz you have money to pay for it and they can't do anything about it! 😉
