Only displays on monitor if it s plugged in before I power it up.
Tried unplugging and removing battery, hold power button for couple minutes.
Tried the ram boards individually because earlier it wasn t displaying on monitor either.
It s an older Sony Vaio with Windows 7 btw.

I changed in the settings from monitor to screen and the display still doesn't work, now it won't show up on monitor either.

That is normally the back light gone bad. Take a flashlight and hold up to the screen. If you can see the desktop the you have to get a new back light for it.

press and hold the windows logo on your keyboard then press p key keep pressing p until you see the option you want then let go of the windows logo
