what did Kelly miller contribute to mathematics?

I looked into it, and he didn't really do anything original with mathematics (although he was an excellent student of the subject, earning a Master's degree). He's basically known for being the first African American to study graduate mathematics and was appointed a professor of mathematics position at Howard University in 1890. He 'advanced the intellectual life of African Americans'.
