Why do small time actors wanted to become the lead and rise to the top in their career, if they claimed they never wanted fame?

For example, actors who are eager to make a name for themselves in the acting industry, hoping to win awards, gain recognition and approval from the audience, wanted rise to the top in their career and achieve 1st lead status? Would you consider them as an ambitious and competitive person who wanted to achieve success, or a person who is going fame and fortune?

Everybody wants to be good at their job. An actor is considered successful if they are as famous and well-known as possible. The industry can sell a movie with Brad Pitt more easily than with someone whose face or name the audience doesn't even know. I believe some celebrities want to be rich but don't want to be famous because that could have downsides but they then set that thought aside in exchange for success.
