2007 Chevy Tahoe won't start.?

After driving the Tahoe across country the following morning would not start. When turning the key to start the car everything turns on, but the engine would not turn over. There was no sound. At first I thought it was the battery. I've researched online to narrow down the problem, but it could be a number a reasons. I'm not sure if I need a new battery, alternator, or a starter.

If it is an automatic check the neutral/park safety switch. It will only allow the engine to start if in neutral or park. Make sure the shift lever is all the way in park by pushing up on the lever while turning the key. Manual shift has a safety switch on the clutch pedal. It has to be pushed all the way down.
