Why is it I get diarrhea after eating ice cream but can still drink milk and eat cheese with no problem?

I hear and read about people being unable to eat ice cream because of lactose intolerance, but such people usually can't eat cheese or drink milk either. That's not my problem because I CAN consume those things. Ice cream is the only culprit. I'm baffled!

I bought some Breyer's ice cream with all natural ingredients, hoping this would be safe to eat without pain and diarrhea. No such luck. Still had gastric problems. I guess I'll have to take this up with my doctor when I have my next visit, because I'm stumped. Can't figure what's the problem! But thanks for the replys anyway.

There are some nasty ingredients in ice cream like carrageenan, guar gum, locust bean, etc. Try a brand with less ingredients, or organic ice cream. Carrageenan gives me a terrible stomach ache and it's in many dairy products, read labels before you purchase food.

either your stomach is sensitive to cold [ you can rule this out if you can eat water ices or sorbet without problems], orthere issome other ingredient in ice-cream to which you are densitive, as it does not appear to be dairy try frozen yogurt,
