Should I wait till I am 25 to get my driver license?

I am currently 17 and in my state ( maryland) you have to take a drivers education class for getting a license and it costs almost $400 plus everything else that has to be paid for to get a license. Also it takes way to long in maryland to get a license. Then insurance for me will be over $3000 year and I would have to buy a car and I dont feel comfortable forking over so much money to drive I would rather save my money instead. So should I just wait till I'm 25 to get a license?

You'd have to weigh all the factors pertaining to your future to decide that. I would advise moving outside Maryland if its ever crossed your mind. I moved out of a super strict state(California) and its amazing how much easier life became. Although even in California the laws arent as bad as Maryland. These days supporting yourself independently in a state like MD is nearly impossible for young adults.

Try and get your licence while your parents are able to help you out and you can drive their car (under their insurance)

You don't HAVE to buy a car if you can't afford it, and if you don't have a car you don't have to insure it. But you still keep your licence. Lots of jobs require a drivers licence for example. You can go to work on your push bike, and then get in the delivery or service van, that's owned and insured by your employer.

When you do eventually buy a car, you can also tell your insurance company that you have held your licence for 5 years, so they wont class you as a "new" driver.
