Here's the thing I live in westchester NY and have been driving for 13+ years but have never once driven in Manhattan. I'm terrified of it. Any who I'm about to start a job in Manhattan. So I'm wondering if a driving school can give me lessons and teach me to drive in Manhattan. That way I won't have to take the metro north railroad with the thousands of other incoherent and simi contious comuters every day.

Even if you learn how to drive in NYC, you will still need to take Metro-North, the bus (which is even worse) or some other public transportation. Parking in Manhattan costs something like $10-20 an hour (or about $100 a day). After taxes and gas, you won't make any money if you work in Manhattan and drive there from Westchester County everyday. The bus and the train are the only ways to make it work, and the train is nicer than the bus.

There are plenty of those incoherent and semi-conscious also DRIVING to and into NYC. Take the train - and lose the attitude. We drive in NYC all the time - we live a little further north than you - but when it isi convenient, like a Yankees game, we take MetroNorth - or for the Knicks, Amtrak. How did YOU get to be a snob? Oh yeah - *Westchester*. But you live in NY and are still a coward? Seriously - if you are THAT impaired - take the train. I learned to drive in BOSTON - now THAT is serious driving stress! But did it every single day for years, form the suburbs, while in graduate school. Blew kisses at the Dorchester Gas Tank while in creep and beep mode.
I doubt there is a Wild in the Streets class for driving in NYC. And you know the new law says that cabbies do NOT have to speak English anymore - not sure how good they are with *hand gestures* as communication.
Did I mention that you should just TAKE THE TRAIN??

Added- Does you new job involve SPELLING? And have you considered what it costs to PARK in NYC? And NJ is now raising is gas tax by 23 cents/gal - no no cheap gas entering/leaving my the GWB. I also think that nobody should be allowed to drive in any of the boroughs until they can spell an PRONOUNCE Koszcziusko - as in, the bridge. (Koss - Chew - Skoh is close enough for Americans - Poles like me, add the *juice*).

Why would you need to have lessons to drive in Manhattan to work? That is very unnecessary to do so. Thousands of people from Westchester County, Rockland County, and Connecticut would take Metro North into the city.
This would save them money on parking, gas and most importantly stress dealing with traffic and weather conditions as well.

Yes, driving schools do give refresher courses to experienced drivers.
Although I wouldn't drive in Manhattan if at all possible - use public transport instead.

I have seen famous actors and well known heads of corporations in the subway. Must be a reason they won't drive in the city. I guess that you live somewhere near White Plains with a job around Wall Street. Do that drive for may be one week and another train customer
