Why wasn't the military notified when Shawn Nelson stole a tank and terrorized San Diego in 1995?

Then why didn't they go after it? The military has antitank weaponry and the state troopers have ar15s or 12g slugs. The were severely outgunned and only managed to bring it to an end when the driver made a mistake. And, if he had been able to break over the median, a lot of people would've died. They should've considered it a terrorist act and dealt with it like they deal with tanks in other cities around the world imo

Which military? The tank belonged to the National Guard. So it was a state issue.

this has happened several times, even in the 60's when I was there a Marine took a tank and ran up the highway.

1) Im sure the unit it was stolen from was aware/notified.

2) What other purpose would there be to notify the military?

This was a civilian crime even if the tank came from the military.
