Factor trinomial X^2+2x-3?

?2016-10-26T06:41:42Z

(x - 1)(x + 3)

For this case, look at the +2x & -3 in the given trinomial and ask yourself: what numbers add up to make a sum of +2 and multiply to make -3? The numbers are -1 and 3.
-1 + 3 = 2 and -1 x 3 = -3
You have two x's from the x^2 and you have your numbers now, so factored would be: (x - 1)(x + 3)

x² + 2x − 3 = (x − 1) (x + 3)

Well,

x^2 + 2x - 3 = (x - 1)(x + 3)

1 is obvious root ..., the other is : c/a = -3/1

hope it' ll help !!
