2002 ford focus #2 cylinder no compression, yesterday 90#.Does anyone know if valve lash adjusters can cause this?.?

The adjuster won't but I agree it sounds like one of the valves on that cylinder is sticking. The usual fix is primitive but cheap, quick, and effective. Change the oil (I recommend synthetic, especially at this point) and do an "Italian tune-up." That means driving the car hard, but in this case the part you need is high rpms. Holding it in second gear and running at frightening rpms for a couple minutes should fix it up. Volvo owners who never get on the freeway often have sticking valves and the ITU works like magic.

It's more likely you either have a bad compression gauge or don't know how to use it properly. Does the motor run differently when you kill the spark to the #2 cylinder?

If you've measured incorrectly and installed the wrong shims, the valves can be prevented from fully closing. So, with that in mind, what do you think the answer to your question is?
