What are some cultural goals that could be achieved by studying abroad?

I want to travel to Argentina as a supplement to my education in agriculture. One of the required essays asks about cultural goals, and I was wondering what would be good examples of this? I certainly want to experience life outside of American daily life and I will be likely speaking Spanish while in the country, and also I will definitely be examining cultural agriculture practices. So what are three quick cultural goals or examples that could be achieved by going.

I feel like the biggest goal is to overcome xenophobia. I feel that if we get to learn more about different cultures and accept that every country marches to their own beats, we become less ignorant and develop humanity.
