Car loan question?

Can I get a car loan if I have a job and am currently laid off for the winter? I work for trugreen and am drawing unemployment until we get hired back around February. I currently have another car loan through the bank that is only $200 a month and the one I am looking now will be around $376 a month. I have money saved up and a credit score of 712 and I could put $3000 down on the new loan. Do you think I would be able to finance this second loan through a dealership?

Very, very unlikely. And, only an idiot would want to be paying on two car loans at the same time while on unemployment.

I'll bet that you are underwater on your current car. Here's the basic lesson: You cannot get out of debt by taking on MORE debt. Drive the current car until it is 100% paid off, and only then consider looking at a newer car.

As soon as the bank or fiance company finds out that you are not receiving an income (to make payments), you will be denied approval for a loan, regardless of down payment. To get a loan you need a full-time job.

Not a chance. Lenders require no less than six months of full-time employment history, and a minimum verifiable income of at least $1700-$2000 per month, in addition to sufficient credit/credit history. Not meeting income requirements is going to get you denied automatically.
