Should America Divide?

Does anyone honestly feel this is the United States. Not in name but states that are united. Can we move forward with half the people pushing and pulling in one direction and half the people pulling and pushing in the opposite direction. The two countries would work very closely in the areas where there is agreement. We would have a shared military. The national debt would be divided by population. Each country could amend the constitution where they feel it is needed. Each country would have it's own tax laws. Think of things you might like to see maybe it is a change in gun laws or a balance budget amendment just to name two. Does anyone think we will see real change with people who are so divided? When people do not agree on just about everything and fight when they are together maybe they should separate.

The Divided States of America? No. Definitely not. We'd have to order all new stationary.

So you mean separate countries, or states, which have independence to make their own laws without being controlled by the entity which oversees the common areas? What would we call these countries that are united by this common international presence?

Seriously, that is what the United States was supposed to be. Over the years the national government found ways to grab more and more power and threaten states through funding measures into giving up their power. Shift the power back to state governments and you can have your dissenting opinions of where each society should be headed.

BTW, I find it interesting that this question is being asked now as opposed to when Democrats were in office.

We've always had the push-pull between groups. The Founding Fathers disagreed with each other- sometimes violently. Also, it's not like all the people in one state are liberals and all the people in another state are conservatives. Are we supposed to move to the different state after you divide us up? that's like India spinning off Pakistan- during which hundreds of thousands died.
