You mustn't be that old or else you would have seen how far we've come since the 1970's, but at least then things were made to reuse and we didn't suffer from rampant consumerism as we do now.

our air is pretty good overall. pollution is not very high on the list of the problems we need to solve right now.

I think we're doing quite well as it is. I see very few people dying from pollution. Now, when I lived in Taiwan, that was a very different story.
