Remember that home built car competition that they made into a tv show in the early 2000s?

It had a bunch of teams from different countries around the world, each build a car by hand and compete in different events. One event was bowling, where your car is the ball. The final event was a swamp race.

The American team came in 2nd, and the winner was from somewhere in South America, with a tiny car that looked like a wedge made out of scraps.

It was not a popular TV show, and not really very good, but it actually had some really cool cars in it.

What was that called?

Sounds like "Full Metal Challenge" - it was a less successful spin-off of "Scrapheap Challenge" (known as "Junkyard Wars" in America - because apparently all gameshows in the USA must suggest that they involve guns),

The overall winning team were actually "The Aquaholics" from the UK.
