Do sperm purposefully seek an egg?
I don't know where this questions came from in my head, but when sperm is swimming in a uterus, are they heading directly towards an egg, or do they just swim around and get lucky?

To an extent. They don't just swim randomly and bump into it. The progesterone in the egg triggers a calcium response in sperm that draw the sperm to the egg.
While yes, some of the sperm end up wandering aimlessly, they do actually tend to stay together. And when an egg isn't present, more "wandering" is going to happen.

They do not have brains, so they really can't have a "purpose" as we know it.
There are millions of them for a reason. Think about it, half of them are going to end up in the wrong fallopian tube. It's pretty much dumb luck.
