What might modern Western civilization look like if Mesopotamia had never existed?

Suppose the Tigris & Euphrates hadn't been there, and the region had made no cultural impact. I'm not talking about inventions like writing, as someone else would've invented it. I suppose Egypt would have been the influential civilization. How would Western culture look different?
