My kitchen is in the process of an upgrade/facelift.
I am changing the sheet vinyl floor to an oak floor.
Buying a new fridge and enclosing it with cabinetry.
Keeping the beautiful oak countertops.
The oak cabinets are in great shape, so I am painting them and upgrading the hardware.
I am adding an island with a granite counter top.
Removing a coat closet and a pantry to make a butler's pantry area.
Cutting a large opening in the wall between the kitchen and dining room.
And, then repaint the walls and designing new window treatments.

Not really an update, more of a refit.
The 1964 Mamie Eisenhower pink countertop was replaced with Formica that looks like Carrera marble. I hate the feel of stone countertops, but the house is a Greek Revival farmhouse, so true country kitchen made more sense. Fell in love with fake "tin" ceiling panels sold at Lowe's, and used them to cover problem wall next to fridge and sink, very cool stuff that looks like zinc and wipes down with Windex.
The Betty Draper cabinets are too solid to replace, so the doors were refinished with a router to look like beadboard, and painted Williamsburg Prussian blue, the body of the cabinets were left as is. Inside of the doors a lighter blue just for fun.
Original 1964 linoleum floor was covered with CoreTecPlus laminate flooring in weathered wood finish, walls were painted Canvas off white, beadboard wainscoting was fitted to cover old plain wainscoting that was damaged, and painted a soft farmhouse green.
I had the fridge, washer and dryer all sprayed with PPG paint made for snowplows in Annapolis (navy of course!) blue. beautiful finish, and very tough. Replaced the old white sink with a rectangular SS sink, and the dishwasher with a Bosch since my old one no longer worked.
Cheap but well done do-over, the kitchen is entirely different, and now fits the house. For reference, there is exactly nothing that can be done to work around pink countertops. I tried for years.

2006. Took out a wall. Built new cabinets, flooring, lights, counter top, sink, refrigerator, stove, stove hood, microwave, trim and door casings, windows.......I know I'm missing something. Me and a friend did it ourselves.

I have no kitchen. It was removed 8 weeks ago. Next week I get a new one. New roof, new lights, new floors, new door, new units, new appliances. Can't wait to cook a proper meal which isn't on a camping gas stove or in a microwave - both of which are covered in builder's dust.
