What good is NAFTA?

NAFTA removed tariffs from lower wage markets. For example, the same product made in Canada, USA and Mexico, the wages would be the most expensive in Canada, and the cheapest in Mexico. This has seen good paying manufacturing and refining jobs leave Canada for USA or Mexico. If those tariffs were still in place, that would not have happened.

Free trade is generally a good thing, since it promotes competition and keeps prices low. However, it has to be done fairly and not give some countries special advantages over others.
