Hi all i have a heating problem radiators hot upstairs but not downstairs I believe the altech cps 130-5 pump has failed. Can anyone tell me a like for like / equivalent I can purchase to replace and hopefully get some warmth in the house.

I assume you are in the UK. Firstly are you certain the pump has failed? I would expect no heat anywhere with pump failure. So as said bleed the radiators. Also partly shut down the hottest radiators upstairs as this should force hot water around the grd flr circuit. If after all the pump is kaput buy a Grundfos replacement. Don't be tempted to buy any other make as Grundfos will last for many decades. Pump dimensions in the UK are standard so it should fit ok. Screwfix sell Grundfos. Don't go to a Plumbers' Merchant or you will pay a lot more for the same item. Also you will need a large adjustable spanner to undo the pump nuts. At least a 24" version. Even then you will need to give it some wellie.

I'd go with some sort of zone controls, solenoids or such that control the flow upstairs and downstairs.

Unless there are two separate pumps for upstairs and downstairs (unlikely) then the pump hasn't failed. Try bleeding your radiators.
