The Japanese have the toughest gun restictions in the world and last year they had 1 gun murder. What would happen if they all had guns?
Lets say next year, a big chain like Takashimaya (Walmart-ish) started selling guns to anyone who wanted one. Would murders increase, or stay the same?
The UK had 26 gun murders. What if Marks and Spencers started selling AR-15's? Would the murder rate increase or stay the same or decrease?

If Takashimaya or Marks and Spencers started selling guns, but only to anyone who wanted one, then it's possible that nothing would happen. Because maybe almost no one in Japan wants a gun.
The problem happens when you start selling guns to those who don't want them, but feel that they need them, because others have them. If that hapepns, the number of murders would go up.
I doubt gun murder would increase significantly, Japan has more of a high suicide problem than homicide. How many knife and blunt object murders did they have? In the U. S we had more deadly bludgeonings than deaths by rifles (yet we own millions of those), according to FBI statistics.
