The 10 commandments were given to ancient Israel in support of the laws of love. They are practices that, if observed, help us become more Christ like.
"Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." Matthew 22:37-40

He said they were the Greatest Commandment and that all other commandments were contained within these two. Take that to mean what you wish.

Love "fulfills" the law. Living by the law is to merely comply with it, despite the heart. You can refrain from murdering someone, thereby keeping the law, yet still hate someone; the spirit of murder. Love goes way beyond the law. Love renders the 10 Commandments obsolete.

No, because 9 of the 10 commandments were carried over to the New Testame3nt. The missing one is the 9th, to keep the Sabbath Holly.

We are told at Matthew 5:17+18 Jesus' words: "Do not think I came to destroy the Law (Ten Commandments) or the Prophets. I came, not to destroy, but to fulfill. Truly I say to you that sooner would heaven and earth pass away than for one stroke of a letter to pass away fro the Law until all things take place." By loving God, our fellow believers, our neighbor and even our enemies, we prove to be automatically obeying all laws everywhere. LOVE covers everything in our lives.
