As the Democratic Party moves further left, will they be able to attract moderates?

It really doesn't work if you go around sticking labels on groups of people without any idea what those labels mean!

Compared to most European political parties the US Democrats would be considered center-right and have remained that way for many years. So they only appear more left wing when compared to a Republican party that is being hijacked by authoritarian far right and ultra-religious groups.

Most people give the facts are moderate. It's not that the Democrats will attract more people, rather that an increasingly extremist Republican party may (hopefully) start to scare more of them off!

Progress is moving further left. That doesn't mean Democrats won't ever lose, but it does mean they aren't the party that's in danger of dying if it doesn't change.

Like lets take gay marriage for example. It was a major rallying issue for the GOP, then they lost so badly that they had to pretend it was never even an issue. It's settled.

Can you think of one issue where Democrats had to do that? I didn't think so.

Right now all the left needs to do is wait for baby boomers to die. What is the long term plan for Republicans exactly?

Supporters of the Democratic Party have many theories to explain the they were handed on Election Day. The explanations seem to boil down to one basic proposition, however: Voters are too stupid to know what's good for them.- Bloomberg
