What are your qualifications to either work in UK temporarily, or to get temporary residency, then eventually qualify for legal permanent residency (called ILR - Indefinite Leave to Remain - in UK), and perhaps ultimately get citizenship?
To work in UK, you must meet all education & experience requirements for a position on their shortage list of occupations eligible for employment visa. Then you must find an authorized employer with govt permission to hire a foreign worker for an open position in a shortage occupation. Only such authorized employers can consider applications from foreigners, and if hired, apply for their temporary employment visa. In general, expect to need advanced degrees + several years of experience in a highly skilled or professional occupation. If a licensed occupation (e.g. health care professionals & the like), you must hold UK license to apply for such jobs. Your education, experience, etc, are evaluated to ensure you meet UK- equivalent education, etc.
IF an employer wanted to keep you long enough, you might eventually qualify for ILR instead of just temporary visa.
See UK govt official website for complete details on visas & immigration to UK.

Unless you are entitled to UK citizenship by birth, you DON'T. Becoming a naturalized citizen of another country RENOUNCES your US citizenship. The US ONLY recognizes dual citizenship BY BIRTH.
