Why do people of other races take names that don’t belong to their race?

Like a black guy named John or something. Why is it exceptable for a person of another race to use a name that’s usually found within white people but if a white girl was named wendreka or Azul, people would have an issue with it.

What do you suggest, should John change his name to a series of Ugandan tongue clicks?

White slave owners GAVE black slaves their white names. This practice was true in ancient Roman time and continued into the Americas.

In current times, some people with African heritage are switching back to names with African roots.

Some consider it insensitive/cultural appropriation for people of European heritage to take on African names.

Maybe someday we will live in a world where ownership of names (or people) is not based on skin color. Then again, I wouldn't hold your breath waiting to meet some Chinese dude named Jamal or some Mexican guy named Sayyid.
