If I use an AV/RCA to HDMI converter to connect my TV to a capture device, is the HDCP stripped?
I am just trying to record a baseball game from Japan while I sleep at 4am - nothing dastardly

If the recorded signal is 480i or it plays back in 480i then yes...HDCP is only concerned with Hi Def signals, 720P and above...Sometimes though a converter machine can fake an HDCP handshake usually it will not work most of the time, due to updates in the code, but sometimes with a 720P signal the older handshake will be accepted, not always and it also depends on the age of your playback equipment and TV the older the better as a general rule as the older machine may still accept the older code.

Lance. Thanks for the info. So it all depends on the resolution of the converter? Or on the source itself ( Digital cable tv) ?
