How many of you have attended a silent movie in a theater with a live orchestra or organ?
What movie did you see? I've seen two performances of 1925's "The Phantom of the Opera" (organ) and a performance of 1922's "Nosferatu" (orchestra). It's an experience not to be missed, if you have the opportunity to go.
Not with live orchestra or organ. I saw the re-processed film of "Sherlock Holmes" {William Gillette) with organ dubbed in, several Mary Pickford films with live piano accompaniment, Nosferatu, and a Buster Keaton film (I can't recall the title) with dubbed piano or organ.
i go to a silent film festival every year for the last 10 years or so. i've seen dozens of movies that way including both of the ones you mention.
as well as: metropolis, spies, battleship potempkin, the passion of joan of arc, greed, poor little rich girl, the circus, a trip to the moon, steamboat bill jr, 3 ages, college, cops, grandmas boy, the cohens and the kellys, the immigrant, tons of hal roach films, etc.
