Potato bugs?

Every three years the farmer who owns the field behind our house plants potatoes. This is a potato year. When the planes fly over this field spraying insecticide our yard gets totally SWARMED with potato beetles. They devour my roses and and other flower they can. I've planted tomatoes and other stuff this year and I'm determined to fight back. How can I fight back without harming my plants? Do not suggest diatomaceous earth, I tried that last time and it did not work. THANK YOU!

Pick them all off by hand and throw them in a can with diesel fuel. Labour intensive, but it works.

Sorry, but I'd move. God only knows what kinds of toxics are coming in from that "chemical agra-factory". Do you have a well? Think about what washes down into it.

Talk to the county agent who can talk to the farmer and the sprayer. You should not be getting the spray, only the bugs. They can spray your side first and push the bugs the other way.
