In 2018 the Republicans lost 42 House seats to the Democrats. That might seem bad but in 2010 the Democrats lost 64 seats to the Republicans! So why are people, even Republicans, acting like the midterms mean Trump can't win in 2020?

The 2018 midterms had the largest turn out in history especially with young, women, and minority voters. That is bad news for Trump.

They only know what they are told to think. We are not trying to reason with rational people when bringing up these issues. They are more akin to a low-brow sport fan; intellectual honesty and civil behavior is not in their mindset. They are not told how to act in any other way than polarized and severely critical, unfairly critical of Trump.
But I agree with you, it looks good for the Republicans if their exodus from office doesn't become too harmful. It sounds like some of them are wanting out because it got difficult for them. This means to me that there are Republicans who don't have a heart for the country. They could try to make things right, resist the evil that has become the Democratic Party.
