Have you ever been to Newport Beach?  It doesn't sound like it?  
There is a lot of different communities there - you have the new build and cookie cutter houses that surround the Back Bay.  You have all the duplex that are on the Peninsula.  The mansions that are in Newport Coast.  The itty bitty original craftsman on Balboa Island, and the more traditional ranches in the Mariners Mile community.

Since there is no style of home called "pacific coast" and NB has a variety of communities, we have no idea what you are blabbing about.

Nobody knows how to answer this.  Maybe if you included a picture of what you talking about?  Most parts of the country have home styles that are unique to the area, take New England as example where there are styles of homes such as Colonial, Salt Box, Cape and others that you don't necessarily find other places.  All that being said homes are basically the same and there is only so much styling you can do with four walls and roof.
