The Septuagint is the original source of Christian Old testament... .. Together with 27 NT books, as contained in the Latin Vulgate, it is the canonized and authorized version of our Holy Scriptures.

Neither.
The Septuagint is merely a translation and therefore is subject to the same "lost in translation" issues that all translations have.
Thus, there is no reason why one should view it as somehow "special" in comparison to any other translation.

I am not an expert on either Greek or Hebrew.. The Septuagint is a translation. Whether or not it is a good translation is up to scholars to determine.
But, the original language texts are always more reliable than translations, especially as a source material for translations into other languages.

Yes, it's reliable. Nobody "messed it up".
