What s this stuff coming out of cracks in a coffee cup?

I bought a coffee mug from walmart. There was a chemical odor coming from it no matter what I tried, even baking soda and vinegar didn t get rid of it. After using the baking soda and vinegar some kind of white sandy stuff started coming out of micro cracks in the cup (which is where I think the smell is coming from). It s white and crumbly like sand. After each wash with bleach the white stuff appears again. What could this stuff be?

I never, ever drink from anything made in China. I go to thrift stores and scour the shelves for dishware made in USA, England, anywhere but China. I pay less and will live longer. Throw that mug out and look for safer dishware.

Probably a product of China. Never eat or eat off of anything made in China. No telling what is in it and they don't care since you are buying it. Remember they poisoned dogs by faking the ingredients in dog food.

Toss the cup. Get another. This time hang onto the receipt in case it happens again.
