Lincoln continentals, how many years did some have the interceptor engine... Was it desirable and reliable?

The Ford Interceptor motor has been used on more then one engine. I don't think the Continentals had the "option" of being equipped with one. While Mercury and Ford shared engines- Continentals did not (at least back in the 60-70's).
